If you are unable to download an Update through CCC Update Manager because of the following possible message(s):
- Exception: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {EE4E49B0-38EC-4C23-A7A6-2E190B5E3418} failed due to the following error: 80070005.
- Database is about to Expire or Database has Expired
The problem may be due to improper access to run a COM object. Follow the steps below to resolve.
NOTE: Administrative rights are needed to make this change. Please consult with your computer or network administrator for assistance.
If the Windows Account used to run CCC Update Manager Service Account has local administrative rights, then you can add the Update Manager (UM) Service Account username to the DCOMCNFG.
Steps to modify DCOMCNFG
- Click Start > Run and enter DCOMCNFG.
- Open Component Services > Computers.
- Right click on My Computer >Properties >COM Security.
- Select the Edit Default… button for Launch and Activation Permissions.
- From the Launch and Activation Permission select the Add… button.
- Enter the CCC ONE UM Service username and select OK.
- Select the account name and Allow all permissions listed below and click OK.
- Click OK until you have exited all screens.
- Restart computer.
