If you are unable to decode a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in CCC Estimating, follow the steps below to ensure the workfile is set correctly to the appropriate claim type.
Open the workfile to the Insurance tab to determine what Claim Type is set to, if it is set to something other than Vehicle or Motorcycle, then most fields on the Vehicle tab will not be available.
- Change the Claim type to Vehicle or Motorcycle
- Click to the Vehicle tab and try decoding the VIN again or manually selecting the year make and model.
- If you are not able to manually change the claim type:
- Test further by starting a new workfile and decode the VIN, if it decodes correctly then it is likely an issue with the assignment, the insurance company will need to resend the assignment. The insurance company will need to change the vehicle type in its claim system to "Private Passenger" and then resend.
