Below are instructions for configuring your proxy for use with CCC Update Manager. Please consult with a computer / network technician for assistance.
Configuring Proxy Server Settings for CCC Update Manager
If you use CCC Update Manager with a proxy server, follow these instructions. NOTE: CCC Update Manager is compatible with a Proxy server in both an Authenticating and a Non-Authenticating configuration.
Non-Authenticating Configurations
For users who use a Non-Authenticating proxy, no additional steps are required when the Proxy Server and Port are configured in the LAN Settings under Internet Properties during installation. CCC Update Manager cannot automatically detect the Proxy settings if the LAN Settings option is set to an Automatic Configuration.
In this case, the proxy settings will have to be configured with an installation script or manually entered through the registry. (Refer to the directions below for more information.)
Authenticating Configurations
For CCC Update Manager customers that use an Authenticating Proxy, the settings have to be entered automatically using an installation script, or manually through the registry. The preferred method to enter these settings is to run the CCC Estimating Installation with a script that will configure the proxy settings. (Refer to the directions below for more information.) Additionally, during the CCC Update Manager installation process, customers who use an Authenticating Proxy must select an Administrator level account for the CCC Update Manager Scheduler service to use.
How to check what Proxy settings are currently configured in LAN Settings
1. Access the Control Panel.
2. Click on Internet Options and then select the Connections tab.
3. Select the LAN Settings button at the bottom of the Connections tab.
4. If proxy server settings are set, the Use a proxy server for your LAN… option will be checked. There will also be information in the Address: and Port: fields.
Note: If the Automatic configuration option is selected instead of the Proxy server option, then CCC Update Manager will have to be configured to use a proxy server. Authenticating proxy users will have to configure CCC Update Manager to use a proxy no matter which options are selected.
CCC Estimating Installation scripting information
Refer to the Complete_Command_Line_Help.rtf file for a full list of commands available for scripting. This is located under the CCCSUM folder on the CCC Estimating Installation. Information needed to configure a proxy:

- Proxy server name and port number
- Proxy username and password. This is only needed if the username to access the internet is different than the one used for the CCC Scheduler service. (Authenticating proxy only)
- Proxy bypass server (optional)
How to manually edit the Registry to configure proxy settings for CCC Update Manager
This information is provided for users who choose not to install CCC Estimating using an installation script. In this case, you should install CCC Estimating using the regular installation process provided on the installation DVD/USB, and then follow the instructions here to configure proxy settings after the CCC Estimating Software installation is complete.
Warning: Do not attempt to edit the registry if you are unfamiliar with doing so. If you use the Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require a reinstall of your operating system.
